Preset loaded: 48 KB target, which lands inside the 20 KB–50 KB band with the most quality that fits. Nothing is uploaded.
Portal limits change — double-check the current notification before you submit.
Quality is lowered only as far as the floor allows. If that still isn't enough, the image is scaled down in small steps instead — downscaling looks far better than heavy compression artifacts. EXIF metadata (location, camera, serial numbers) is always removed for your privacy; colour accuracy is kept.
The 20–50 KB band is the single most common photo requirement on Indian government portals — SSC, IBPS, most state PSCs. The part people get wrong is the floor: a portal rejects a 12 KB file just as fast as a 60 KB one, so compressing as hard as possible is the wrong instinct. If your form also specifies pixel dimensions, crop to those first using the crop tool, then come back here — doing it the other way round undoes the size.
The result always lands just under it.
One file or a batch — highest quality that fits.
Everything runs in your browser.
Drop it above and press Resize — the result lands just under 20 KB–50 KB at the highest quality that fits.
No. Everything runs in your browser — safe for ID photos and signatures.
Almost always size or format. Set the portal's exact limit as your target, pick JPEG, re-upload.
Compress to an exact size, crop to an exact ratio, cut out a background — all on your own device.
